“Sorry to those who are disappointed you can no longer play #thelongdark on GeForce Now,” writes Lierop. has pulled that game from GeForce Now and explained his reasoning on Twitter: Now Raphael van Lierop, game director of The Long Dark from indie dev Hinterland Studio Inc. And both are badly missing the long-term benefits GeForce Now could provide. But neither AAA publisher is terribly frank about their decision-making process. These companies don’t see immediate profits in a service like this.

I’ve already written about why I think Activision and Bethesda were dead wrong to pull their games from GeForce Now. I own hundreds of games on Steam, and GeForce Now would simply let me access all of them-except for those pulled by publishers and game developers who believe I don’t have a right to my own catalog of titles. The dream of game-streaming slowly unfurling, but without having to buy every game over again-which is the real problem with Stadia more than anything. (I mean, I probably won’t because I love upgrading my PC, but others might). Maybe if the service gets good enough, I’ll decide to stop upgrading my gaming PC and put all that saved money into games.
